3 Mile Run & Delete Your Email

My roommate and I ran 3 miles today without stopping. It's only been a few months since we started running, and it was only a couple month ago when we could barely run half a mile, or even think we could.

Also, we recently found out the time requirement for the Police Academy is 17 minutes for a mile and half, NOT 12 minutes as we originally thought, but since we started with the goal of hitting 12 minutes, we are still going to strive for 12. Our fastest time has been 13:26, which was at a leisurely pace.

Running has been good. I feel more confident, think my ass muscles are much more tighter, thus hotter. Jokes jokes.

I think next year, I will sign up a Nashville 5K run.

Beyond that, I'm drawing more, which is nice, although I have made NO MONEY in the past month, which is fine, but still unnerving.

Started a new design. Another EPIC. Update soon.

Oh yeah, started listening to motivational/time management audio tape by David Allen - "Getting Things Done" and since, my email box, at least the yahoo mail, is empty besides the 2-3 emails I have on my to do list. It used to have over a couple thousand.

Respond to your email, or Delete it.

The message by David Allen was that, it takes more mental energy to have a email box full of things to do, opposed to if it takes less than 2 minutes, it will take less energy to send a quick response than to have it mentally hanging around... Something like that.

And fact is, those emails sitting around, will probably not get answered, and there will always be more to replace them...

Haha. The most I can do to my inbox is mark 'unread' as 'read'...deleting things makes me nervous. I forget too many basic things to actually delete!

yeah it does, I only cleaned out the gmail account though, my yahoo account is spammed out (781 inbox, 1700 spam, I also deleted everything a few weeks ago). some things just aren't worth saving

It's a cult! Getting Things Done is a cult!!!! ;-) I'm kidding. (Although David Allen *does* have a New Age background, and people have gone nuts over it and gotten carried away with using The Right Pen or Paper.)

GTD rocks though. I've read the book a few times, and I think there's a lot of good stuff there. I've been trying to figure out how to apply it to art. I actually wrote a series of posts about it at http://mysteriousflame.com/category/art-gtd-series/

And yes, getting your inbox to zero is quite nice. I live by it. Welcome to the club.

(Nice avatar, btw. How old are you in that pic?)
